BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Police say a Birmingham woman who fatally shot her brother will not be charged.

Birmingham Police homicide Sgt. John Tanks tells Al.com on Friday that the woman used self-defense in the shooting death of 24-year-old Anthony Lamar Peck. Police say the shooting occurred July 15 after a domestic dispute between the siblings.

Peck was pronounced dead July 16 at UAB Hospital.

Tanks says Peck threatened the life of his sister and her children. Tanks says Peck also threatened to set the car on fire.

The name of the sister has not been released.
