YAKIMA, Wash. (AP) - The search for a 60-year-old man missing on Mount Adams since Sunday has been suspended.

The Yakima Herald-Republic ( https://bit.ly/29TC2Qg ) reports that about 65 search-and-rescue volunteers and several helicopters had scoured the 12,280-foot volcano until deciding late Wednesday to suspend the efforts.

The search was hampered by bad weather that limited visibility and dumped snow, sleet and rain on the mountain.

The search began Sunday after authorities received a cellphone call from a man identified as Robert Burroughs of Stevenson, who reported being injured after getting disoriented in fog and falling down a 1,000-foot slope.

Searchers said he reported a head injury and was unable to tell them where he was.
