MOUNT TABOR, Vt. (AP) - The U.S. Forest Service says the 2016 Rainbow Gathering held this year in the Vermont community of Mount Tabor is over.

The gathering of the Rainbow Family of Living Life peaked on July 4 with more than 10,000 people camping in the Green Mountain National Forest.

After the peak, a number of Rainbow Family members stayed behind to help clean up the site.

There were no serious incidents during the event, but dozens of tickets were issued for a variety of minor infractions.

Rainbow Gatherings, originally inspired by the Woodstock music festival of 1969, have been held every year since 1972 at different National Forest locations across the country.
