RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Gov. Terry McAuliffe says Virginia’s unemployment rate was 3.7 percent last month.

The governor’s office said in a statement Friday that May’s jobless rate was revised downward from 3.8 percent to 3.7 percent.

It’s the lowest the state’s unemployment rate has been since April 2008. Virginia’s unemployment rate is the lowest among the states in the Southeast.

McAuliffe’s office says the state’s total employment grew nearly 2 percent since June 2015 to nearly 4 million people.
