RAEFORD, N.C. (AP) - Authorities say a woman has been charged with neglect after about 100 animals were found in poor condition at her home in Raeford.

Hoke County sheriff’s Capt. John Kivett tells local media outlets the animals found Thursday included horses, dogs, cats, goats and birds. Deputies got a search warrant after a veterinarian reported a horse from the property had to be euthanized because it malnourished.

Forty-three-year-old Maureen Lee is charged in the case. It was not immediately known if she had an attorney.
