MECHANICSVILLE, Va. (AP) - A woman has died in a single-vehicle wreck in Mechanicsville and authorities have labeled her death as suspicious.

Sergeant James Cooper with the Hanover County Sheriff’s Department tells local media that Thursday afternoon deputies were notified of a car crash near Lee-Davis High School.

Cooper says a Chevrolet Cavalier ran off the road, hit a curb, corrected and then rolled over before coming to a rest. Deputies found three people inside the car.

Cooper says a female passenger in the front seat was found deceased with “obvious signs of trauma” to her head. Her death has been ruled suspicious.

None of the other passengers were injured. The male driver was arrested.

Neither the names of the victim nor the names of the other passengers have been released.
