AIKEN, S.C. (AP) - The Aiken County coroner says that a Georgia man is dead after drowning while fishing in a pond in the county.

Coroner Tim Carlton tells local media outlets that 77-year-old Howard Seymore of Martinez, Georgia died in the accident on Friday afternoon.

Carlton says that Seymore and a friend were fishing on the bank of the pond when his line got tangled in debris.

Seymore got into a canoe and paddled out into the pond but the canoe tipped over and he fell into the water as he tried to untangle the line.
