CAMDEN, N.J. (AP) - Lawmakers have announced a $16.2 million transportation grant for a series of projects near the Ben Franklin Bridge in Camden.

The TIGER grant will be used to improve a gateway connecting the bridge and downtown Camden, road improvements in the Cooper Point neighborhood, and improving traffic on Cooper Street.

The grant award was announced Tuesday by Sen. Bob Menendez, Sen. Cory Booker and Rep. Donald Norcross.

Menendez says the money will boost the city’s economy and improve quality of life for residents.
