REMLAP, Ala. (AP) - Fire has destroyed a more than century-old church in Blount County.

Flames engulfed the Valley Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Remlap early Tuesday. Media reports show the 111-year-old sanctuary was gutted, with the wood-frame walls leaning outward and the roof gone.

There’s no immediate word on the cause of the blaze and no one was hurt. But Pastor Jeff Logan says other churches in the area already have contacted him offering the use of their church buildings.

The Valley Grove church is located in a rural area about 25 miles northeast of Birmingham.
