SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) - A 19-year-old high school student from Holyoke has been ordered held on $50,000 bail on charges he ran a heroin trafficking operation in the western Massachusetts city.

The Republican newspaper reports (https://bit.ly/2acdi98 ) Roman Correa pleaded not guilty Monday in Springfield District Court to charges of heroin trafficking and related offenses.

The Dean Technical High School senior was arrested last week following a raid that prosecutors say yielded the seizure of more than 800 bags of heroin, $635 in cash and drug paraphernalia.

If convicted, Correa faces up to 20 years in prison. Prosecutors argued that Correa’s possible sentence gives him incentive to flee before trial.

Correa’s attorney, Benjamin Farrell, says his client is a good student who plans to attend college or join the U.S. Army after graduating.
