PRATTSVILLE, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas State Police say a 21-year-old Grant County man has been arrested for a hit-and-run crash that killed a 2-year-old child.

State police said in a news release Tuesday that the man from Prattsville was arrested for manslaughter and leaving the scene of an injury crash. Court records do not show that formal charges have been filed.

Police say the man is suspected of losing control of the vehicle he was driving on Highway 190 south of Benton about 3:30 a.m. on July 10th and striking a wagon that was carrying the child and was being pulled by a woman.

Police say the child was pronounced dead at a Benton hospital.

An affidavit filed in the case says the suspect told police he had fallen asleep at the wheel.
