SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Police say a pregnant woman has died after a crash with a commuter train, but her infant survived.

Utah Transit Authority spokesman Remi Barron says woman was riding in the car when the man behind the wheel drove around the FrontRunner train crossing arm in the down position Monday night.

Salt Lake City police Lt. Mike Hatch says the train slammed into the passenger side of the car. Thirty-year-old Kipaofaki Kinikini died at the hospital. Her infant survived the crash but suffered critical injuries. The man was hurt but is expected to recover.

Barron says the train was not in service or carrying passengers at the time of the accident.
