TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - Utility crews continue to restore electricity after severe thunderstorms rumbled across New Jersey.

More than 3,400 homes and businesses are without power Tuesday, mainly in Mercer, Monmouth and Hunterdon counties. That’s down from more than 30,000 customers at the height of Monday night’s storms.

Strong winds downed trees and power lines.

As much as 2 inches of rain fell in an hour, causing flash flooding.
