WATFORD CITY, N.D. (AP) - The board that oversees the golf course in Watford City is expanding the facility from nine holes to 18.

KUMV-TV reports (https://bit.ly/29PTPZq ) that the cost of transforming the city-owned Fox Hills Golf Course is estimated at $8 million.

The first phase will include 12 holes on new land. The second phase will consist of digging up the current nine holes and building six new holes, a practice green and a maintenance facility.

The project will be paid for with city money and private fundraising. The course has about 400 members.

Construction is to get underway yet this summer. The first phase is expected to be completed next year, with the full 18-hole course done in 2018.
