ROYAL OAK, Mich. (AP) - The Detroit Zoo will briefly be home to some unique chalk animals.

The zoo in the Detroit suburb of Royal Oak says street artist and illustrator David Zinn will create 3-D animal drawings on the pavement Wednesday and Aug. 10. Zinn is known for his creations in Ann Arbor and visitors will be able to watch him get inspiration from the zoo.

Zinn plans to start working near the Polk Penguin Conservation Center before creating drawings near the Rackham Fountain and Cotton Family Wolf Wilderness.

Zinn’s visits coincide with the Detroit Zoo’s Wild Summer Nights concert series on Wednesdays in July and August. The Michigan Opera Theatre will perform on Wednesday night and pop cover band Cosmic Groove will take the stage for the August event.
