LANSING, Mich. (AP) - The first of three farmers market days planned for this year at the Michigan Capitol in Lansing is taking place.

The Michigan Farmers Market Association is hosting Thursday’s “Farmers Market at the Capitol” on the Capitol’s east lawn.

On the July market day, shoppers can visit more than 70 vendors selling Michigan-grown and produced products, including fruit, vegetables, flowers, meat, cheese, baked goods and prepared foods and much more. Free yoga classes also are planned.

The association’s Executive Director Dru Montri says in a statement that the event seeks to show how farmers markets contribute to communities statewide.

Other market days are planned at the Capitol on Aug. 25 and Sept. 22.
