PHOENIX (AP) - Additional fire restrictions are being lifted in Arizona due to moisture and higher humidity levels provided by the summer monsoon.

The latest changes involve restrictions lifted Tuesday morning by the Tonto National Forest and scheduled to be lifted Thursday morning by the Phoenix District of the federal Bureau of Land Management.

Officials say the restrictions on campfires, smoking and shooting can be lifted because the monsoon wetness is significantly reducing the threat of large wildfires.

The BLM’s Phoenix district includes BLM land in south-central and central Arizona. The Tonto National Forest is located in east-central Arizona.

Officials ask that the public continue to use caution with campfires and other uses of the fire.
