BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - A burglar who left blood and clothing behind at places he struck has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Brian Benjamin was sentenced Tuesday in Erie County Court, where he pleaded guilty in March to five counts of burglary.

Authorities traced the 53-year-old Buffalo man’s crimes back to 2010 when he apparently cut himself on a first-floor window while breaking into a house and again on the second-floor window he jumped out of after finding the residents home.

His DNA eventually was matched to three 2014 burglaries where blood and clothing were left behind.

Investigators also had video of Benjamin as he tried to disable a security camera inside yet another home. Tipsters identified Benjamin after police posted the images on Facebook.
