VICKSURG, Miss. (AP) - Col. Michael Derosier has taken over as commander of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Vicksburg District.

Derosier succeeds Col. John W. Cross.

The Vicksburg Post reports that the change of command ceremony took place Tuesday at the Vicksburg Convention Center (https://bit.ly/2ae6tQZ ).

Cross, who plans to retire from the Army after 30 years of service at the end of the week, has led the Vicksburg District for three years.

Major General Michael C. Wehr, commander of the Mississippi Valley Division, officiated Tuesday. Wehr recounted several of Cross’ accomplishments as commander, including his leadership to modernize erosion prevention efforts on the Mississippi River.
