DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Des Moines police say investigators do not believe the fatal shooting of a man on a bicycle was a random act.

Police said in a news release Wednesday that the investigation so far into the Sunday death of 59-year-old Dennis Strable has led them to believe that residents of the quiet residential neighborhood about three blocks north of Roosevelt High School are not in danger from a random shooter.

Police found Strable’s body around 4:30 a.m. after receiving a report of a shooting. Officers say Strable was riding his bike at the time he was shot.

Police did not report any arrests in the case on Wednesday and ask anyone who knew Strable or had seen him in recent days to contact investigators.
