SAN LEANDRO, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say a San Francisco Bay Area trucker has died following a crash that sent a massive fireball across the highway and snarled the morning commute.

The Oakland Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/2a4A1Ri ) the big rig tanker truck full of motor oil was the only vehicle involved in the crash. The victim’s gender, name and age were not released.

For unknown reasons, the driver lost control just before 4 a.m. Wednesday while on northbound Interstate 880 at the Davis Street exit in San Leandro.

No one else was injured.

All lanes of I-880 were blocked immediately after the crash. The CHP issued a Sig Alert for severe traffic, the newspaper reported.

The CHP opened three of four lanes shortly after the crash, but the far right lane and the Davis Street exit remained closed early Wednesday. There was no estimate for when they would be open.
