PHOENIX (AP) - Authorities say a man is dead after falling about 30 feet from a palm tree in west Phoenix.

Phoenix Fire Department officials say the fatal fall occurred around 5 p.m. Wednesday.

They say the man suffered severe head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene near 35th Avenue and Glendale Avenue.

The man’s name hasn’t been released yet and it remains unclear if he had climbed the palm tree to trim it.
