ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - New York officials say the state fair will have the largest midway in its history, covering 15 acres with at least 70 rides.

Operated by the Department of Agriculture and Markets, the 2016 fair is scheduled Aug. 25 to Sept. 5 at the fairgrounds west of Syracuse.

The new rides include one of the largest traveling roller coasters in the U.S., a new Ferris wheel and many thrill rides with new LED lighting.

According to fair officials, the midway was paved with heavy-duty asphalt meant to accommodate the extreme weight of large rides.

The midway is expected to top last year’s record $1.5 million in revenues.

Advance discount entry tickets and midway all-day ride vouchers are available now online or at designated retailers.
