NORRISTOWN, Pa. (AP) - A suburban Philadelphia teacher has been charged with assaulting two former middle school students.

Thirty-nine-year-old Jason Gattuso of Chalfont is charged in Montgomery County with statutory sex assault, unlawful contact with a minor, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and other counts.

Prosecutors said he met both teenagers while a social studies teacher at Springfield Township Middle School. They allege that he had sex with the 14- and 15-year-old girls in 2014 and 2015 at various locations including his car and one girl’s home.

School district superintendent Nancy Hacker called the case “shocking and disturbing.” She said the district had placed Gattuso on administrative leave “and is moving for his dismissal.”

Court documents don’t list an attorney who could respond to the charges; a listed number for Gattuso couldn’t be found Wednesday.
