PHOENIX (AP) - The Latest on Arizona State Treasurer Jeff DeWit being named chief operating officer for Donald Trump’s campaign for president (all times local):

Arizona State Treasurer Jeff DeWit says his family life will be pinched but that his work for the state won’t suffer by his becoming chief operating officer for Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump’s campaign.

DeWit says he’ll be doing the campaign work as a volunteer and that he doesn’t yet know how much time or travel will be required.

Trump’s campaign announced the appointment Wednesday, saying DeWit will run the campaign’s operating officer to run administrative and organizational operations.



A Republican, DeWit has headed Trump’s presidential campaign in Arizona. He was elected in 2014 as treasurer, a $70,000-a-year position.

PHOENIX (AP) - Arizona State Treasurer Jeff DeWit has been appointed to a senior management post in Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump’s campaign, and DeWit says he plans to keep his elected office while volunteering.

Trump’s campaign announced Wednesday the appointment of DeWit as chief operating officer to run administrative and organizational operations.

A Republican, DeWit has headed Trump’s presidential campaign in Arizona. He was elected in 2014 as treasurer, a $70,000-a-year position.

DeWit and several of his deputies did not immediately respond to inquiries, but DeWit told KPNX-TV (https://goo.gl/e2C2Dl ) he’s not quitting his state office but is volunteering to help Trump’s campaign.

He said the campaign is not a job “per se” and that he can do a lot for the campaign from Arizona.
