NAMPA, Idaho (AP) - A woman accused of illegally occupying a southwest Idaho home before being arrested on a warrant violation in an unrelated case has been sentenced for drug possession.

The Idaho Press-Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/29ZEGbT) that 46-year-old Debbra Smith was sentenced Monday to 180 days in jail and two years of probation for misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance.

A Canyon County couple had been trying to get Smith out of their Nampa home since they discovered she was living there in March after she entered into a fake lease with someone who claimed to be the owner of the property. A judge denied the homeowner’s request to expedite the eviction.

But police arrested Smith in early April after officers discovered she had a warrant violation.
