TOWANDA, Kan. (AP) - Authorities have identified a man killed in a south-central Kansas house fire.

Butler County Undersheriff Tony Wilhite says 56-year-old Steven Hulse was killed last week when the fire broke out in the living room of his Towanda house. The Wichita Eagle (https://bit.ly/2aentge ) reports that he was found next to his bed in the living room.

Hulse’s 16-year-old son had gone to a friend’s house earlier in the evening. When he returned, he went inside, but intense heat and soot forced him back outdoors.
