BROCKTON, Mass. (AP) - A Brockton man has been convicted of fatally his stabbing his father and punching his mother in the face in a dispute over loud music.

The Enterprise (https://bit.ly/2a1XqHN ) reports that Amilton Goncalves was sentenced Wednesday in Brockton Superior Court to 10 years in prison after a judge found him guilty of manslaughter and assault and battery.

Prosecutors say the 23-year-old Goncalves stabbed 44-year-old Joaopedro Goncalves once in the chest in June 2014.

Police said Joaopedro Goncalves had threatened to call the police about the loud music and his son said he was going to kill him if he called the police. The younger man punched his mother as she tried to restrain him, and then left the area. The son returned home hours later when the fatal stabbing occurred.
