TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - Federal authorities have arrested 18 people and seized nearly 600 pounds of synthetic drugs, several luxury vehicles and more than $350,000 in a multi-agency investigation in Arizona and two other states.

According to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, 32 federal search warrants were served in the Tucson area plus Denver, Colorado and Long Beach, California.

The investigation focused on the sale and distribution of synthetic cannabinoids, also known as “Spice.”

The DEA teamed up with criminal investigators from the Internal Revenue Service, the U.S. Border Patrol and local and federal Homeland Security agents in order to investigate people of interest and serve 32 search warrants within the case.

Of the 18 people arrested, some occurred in the Tucson area but an exact number wasn’t immediately available Wednesday.
