EMMETT, Idaho (AP) - A 59-year-old driver has died after crossing the center lanes on Highway 16 near Emmett and striking another vehicle head-on.

Idaho State Police says Lonnie Sellars, of Emmett, had been headed north Thursday afternoon when his Subaru station wagon collided with a southbound pickup truck driven by 21-year-old Katelyn Womack.

The woman’s vehicle was forced off the right shoulder of the road and landed on its roof, while Sellars’ vehicle came to rest in the middle of the road.

Womack was taken to a hospital and Sellars died at the scene.

They both had been wearing seat belts.

Both lanes of Highway 16 had been blocked for about two and a half hours while crews worked to clear the scene.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
