NEW ORLEANS (AP) - The U.S. Attorney’s Office in New Orleans says a Honduran native who was in the United States illegally has pleaded guilty to a firearm charge.

Prosecutors say in a news release that 27-year-old Jonathan Ramos-Vasquez entered a guilty plea Wednesday to the charge that he was in possession of a handgun while in the United States illegally. He could be imprisoned for up to 10 years. Sentencing was set for Nov. 2.

Ramos was arrested last year in Lafourche Parish.
