MOUNT PLEASANT, Iowa (AP) - Officials in the southeastern Iowa town of Mount Pleasant say they expect to replace a leaky pipe that has been allowing untreated waste water into a storm sewer that leads to Saunders Branch Creek.

The Hawk Eye reports (https://bit.ly/2aAmuX0 ) that acity crew discovered the leak Wednesday while repairing a nearby line. The crews reported the leak to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.

The department recommends keeping children and pets away from the creek - especially in Saunders Park - until after repairs are complete.

The city expected to replace the leaky pipe on Thursday.
