CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - Gov. Matt Mead has ordered 27 members of the Wyoming National Guard to help residents of Pine Bluffs recover from a damaging hail storm.

The National Weather Service says a severe storm struck the area on Wednesday with golfball-sized hail. There were many reports of broken windows in homes and other damage.

The governor’s office says the soldiers and airmen were sent to help residents board up windows and doors. More storms were possible for the area on Thursday.

Pine Bluffs is about 40 miles east of Cheyenne.
