SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) - Authorities say a child apparently set fire to a Springfield home where child abuse had recently been reported.

Randy Villines, assistant fire chief with the Springfield Fire Department, told The Springfield News-Leader (https://j.mp/2acNl7V ) that a juvenile started the fire Friday at the home. No injuries were reported.

Court documents say the home was occupied by a man who is being held on suspicion of child sexual abuse that was reported earlier this month. Court documents say two boys reported they were given drugs and abused last month by the man who was paying them to do odd jobs.

Villines said he doesn’t know if the juvenile accused of starting the fire is connected to the abuse case.

He says the juvenile’s in custody.
