ROSWELL, Ga. (AP) - Police say a collision with a pedestrian in Atlanta’s northern suburbs turned out to be more sinister: Before the victim was struck by a car, he had been stabbed several times.

Roswell police say 35-year-old Lawrence Cornelius Range of Marietta, Georgia, was hit early Wednesday morning by a black Acura while he was standing on a road. The Acura driver stayed at the scene and is cooperating.

Only at the hospital did doctors discover that Range had been stabbed repeatedly before the collision.

Officer Lisa Holland said Range was unconscious and unable to explain what happened.

Police are now searching for an older-model tan sedan that a witness saw fleeing the scene, and they want to hear from people who know Range.
