UPPER DARBY, Pa. (AP) - A Philadelphia man has been jailed on charges he ambushed a man outside his suburban home and killed him because police say the suspect blamed him for a recent drug arrest.

Thirty-nine-year-old Lawrence Lucas has been jailed since Tuesday night.

Upper Darby police Superintendent Michael Chitwood says Lucas was an “absolute assassin” when he gunned down 29-year-old Dewayne Lancaster outside an apartment complex early Tuesday.

Police say they found Lucas at a bus terminal shortly after the shooting and have linked him to the crime using a shoe print and other physical evidence.

Lucas remained in the Delaware County jail on Thursday on first-degree murder and other charges. Online court records don’t list an attorney for him.
