SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) - Police in Scottsdale have released the name of a knife-wielding man who was fatally shot when he confronted officers.

They say 20-year-old Dylan Liberti was on felony release for an incident that took place in Scottsdale in November.

In that incident, police say Liberti assaulted a Scottsdale officer with a knife and attempted to take the officer’s gun.

Police say Wednesday afternoon’s shooting occurred in a retail area after officers responded to a call about a person acting erratically and suspiciously.

They say Liberti wouldn’t comply with officers’ commands, leading to a struggle and then a short pursuit on foot.

Police say Liberti then confronted officers in a grocery story’s parking lot.

They say he again didn’t obey commands and was shot by an officer and declared at the scene.
