FORT VALLEY, Ga. (AP) - Authorities say they’ve recovered the body of a man who drowned in the Flint River southwest of Macon.

Crawford County sheriff’s officials say that searchers were called to the river Thursday night after getting a call about a possible drowning.

The Telegraph reports (https://bit.ly/2a5enkk) that the 21-year-old Fort Valley man was swimming with a group when he went under near a boat ramp. Others tried to save him, but he was not found until shortly before 2 a.m. Friday.

Crawford County Deputy Coroner David McLeighton tells the Macon newspaper that the man drowned.
