JACKSON, N.H. (AP) - New Hampshire Fish and Game officers have rescued a Pennsylvania hiker who had fallen while descending the Osgood Trail on Mount Madison in Pinkham Notch.

WMUR-TV (https://bit.ly/2aj332P ) reports that a group of hikers encountered an injured Michael Briggs between the summit of the mountain and the Osgood Tent Site around 1 p.m. Thursday.

Briggs told the hikers he believed he may have sustained a head injury and called for help. Conservation officers and volunteers from search and rescue teams responded to the scene.

The 69-year-old Maryann Center, Pennsylvania, man was able to walk with rescuers to an all-terrain vehicle near the Great Gulf Trail. He was evaluated by emergency workers and taken via ambulance to Androscoggin Valley Hospital in Berlin for further treatment.
