TENAFLY, N.J. (AP) - Authorities say an 8-year-old boy who appeared to be drowning has been pulled from a pool at a northern New Jersey community center.

Police were called Thursday to the Kaplen JCC on the Palisades, where they say the boy was pulled from a pool and given CPR. The JCC says the child was found in shallow water in the pool.

The boy has been taken to Hackensack University Medical Center. It’s unclear what his condition is.

Authorities didn’t immediately identify the boy.
