MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) - Police say a Myrtle Beach woman was shot and injured at a mall parking lot while picking up her daughter from work.

Horry County police tell news outlets that the 58-year-old woman was shot early Thursday morning.

Horry County Police Department spokesman Raul Denis says the woman was sitting in her car near the store’s exit around midnight when two suspects approached her and attempted to rob her. Denis says one of the suspects then shot the victim.

The woman was transported to a hospital for treatment.

Police continue to investigate the shooting. Anyone with information is asked to contact authorities.
