FLORENCE, Ariz. (AP) - After waiting more than three years for a trial, a San Tan Valley man has been acquitted in a murder case.

A Pinal County Superior Court jury returned a not guilty verdict Wednesday for Darrin Craig on one count of first-degree murder and two counts of conspiracy to commit murder.

Craig was accused in the death of Apache Junction businessman John Wayne Murrell, whose body was found in his watch store in January 2013.

Court documents show Murrell had a gunshot wound to the head and ligature marks on his hands, indicating he had been bound.

The Casa Grande Dispatch (https://bit.ly/2aDicxR) reports Murrell couldn’t be immediately identified due to his injuries and the beginning stages of body decomposition.

Prosecutors say a co-defendant in the murder case still is facing trial.
