WHITESBURG, Ga. (AP) - Officials say a 6-year-old boy drowned in a river while swimming with family members at a park in west Georgia.

Carroll County Fire Deputy Chief Bud Benefield tells local news media that the body of the body was found Saturday afternoon in the Chattahoochee River at McIntosh Reserve Park. His body was found in the same area where 28-year-old Timothy Shane Phillips went downed on June 25.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that crews found the boy’s body in eight to 10 feet of water and about 50 yards from where Phillips drowned.

The Newnan Times-Herald reports the drowning marks the fourth incident in 2016 near McIntosh Reserve. Three were under the age of 14.
