LAS VEGAS (AP) - Authorities say a Las Vegas police officer and a suspect were both hit by a car.

Police said Sunday the suspect and the pursuing officer suffered injuries that are not life-threatening.

The incident happened around 2 a.m. near Las Vegas Boulevard and Flamingo Road.

An officer was trying to detain a suspect on the Strip when the suspect fled.

A foot chase ensued.

Both were then struck by a passing car.

They both were transported to a hospital and are recovering.

Police did not say why the suspect was initially detained.
