EAST ROCKAWAY, N.Y. (AP) - A Long Island man is facing charges including burglary and grand larceny in connection to a series of break-ins and a car theft.

Nassau County authorities say it started shortly before 7 a.m. Saturday, when the Centerport man broke the front door of a business using a cement block. He left there without taking anything.

A few minutes later the 31-year-old entered the grounds of another company, but also left empty-handed. Police say he then got into a car that had been left running and drove away, striking a utility pole and hitting another car.

Authorities say he fled on foot, and at 8 a.m. went into a drycleaners, where he took money from the register. Officers arrested him shortly after.
