CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - Charleston police say a 2-year-old child has died after running into traffic and being struck by a vehicle.

Media outlets report the child was struck Saturday on Charleston’s west side.

Lt. Tony Hazelett says the child had left a store and went into an intersection where he was hit by a pickup truck. The driver immediately called police.

The child was pronounced dead at the scene. No charges were immediately filed and the incident remains under investigation.
