WASHINGTON (AP) - Two people were killed and five others wounded in separate shootings in Washington.

The Washington Post reports (https://wapo.st/2aEm16k ) it all happened between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. Saturday.

District of Columbia Police say a woman was fatally shot inside an apartment in Southeast Washington, and a man was killed on 14th Street in the Northwest.

Two men were shot and wounded in a car on Anacostia Freeway, and earlier in the morning another person was injured in a shooting on the 900 block of Emerson Street near the Brightwood neighborhood.

Two more people were wounded in shootings Saturday, one in the 2400 block of Elvans Road and another on the 5300 block of Georgia Avenue.

The spate of violence ended a 14-day stretch without a homicide in Washington.
