MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Two women are dead after apparent drownings in the western Minneapolis suburbs.

The Star Tribune (https://strib.mn/2aCold3 ) reports the first happened around 6:30 p.m. Saturday on the southeastern side of Long Lake in Orono (OHR’-uh-noh). Hennepin County sheriff’s deputies, Orono police and Long Lake firefighters were dispatched to Summit Park Beach for a medical emergency involving a woman. Emergency responders tried to revive the woman, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

About a half-hour later, emergency crews were called to Crystal Bay on Lake Minnetonka about a 36-year-old woman missing in the water. Deputies recovered her body around 1:30 a.m. Sunday.

Names of the victims were not immediately released.
