WARE SHOALS, S.C. (AP) - Authorities have identified a driver killed after an accident at the Ware Shoals Dragway.

The Laurens County coroner tells local media outlets that 38-year-old Anthony Craig Owens of Easley died at the scene of the crash Saturday night.

Video shot by witnesses shows a two-door vehicle leaving the track, flipping several times and landing on a group of vehicles along the side of the track.

Officials said a man on the sidelines with his family was also injured. The man managed to shove his 3-year-old boy out of the way, but the child was also injured and airlifted to the hospital.

Racers said they would continue to run Saturday night. The winner of the event was expected to donate money to the families.
