TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - Police believe a body found by hikers near vehicle wreckage is that of a Tucson woman who, along with her adult son, have been missing.

Authorities say hikers in a remote area of Redington Pass on Friday spotted a car down an embankment and a body nearby.

A Pima County Sheriff’s search and rescue team recovered the body, which has not been positively identified.

Police said Saturday that the vehicle matches the description of a car associated with 55-year-old Belen Potts and 29-year-old Ernest Potts.

They say it’s not clear how it ended up down the embankment.

Family members say mother and son were last seen at their home July 14.

They had mentioned hiking in Redington Pass the next day.

They were reported missing July 20.
